Study with us

The aim of the WINU education model is to enable Indigenous peoples to teach, learn and research in a manner that maintains, advances, and disseminates knowledge, develops intellectual independence, builds Indigenous leadership and, is underpinned by the application of Elder wisdom regarding Indigenous traditions according to Indigenous custom.

The model will enable Indigenous students and by extension, their communities:

  1. To learn about, and research their own Indigenous group’s knowledge, culture, history and customs, including themselves as Indigenous peoples in their homelands;
  2. To be credibly credentialed scholars who provide an identifiably Indigenous conscience for their communities and society in general;
  3. To be the commentators on political, economic and social policies where those policies impact on Indigenous communities; and
  4. To socialize and advance the integrity of Indigenous knowledge systems

WINU acknowledges the Indigenous peoples of the world upon whose ancestral lands WINU meets.
WINU would also like to pay respect to the Traditional Knowledge Holders and Elders,
both past and present, acknowledging them as the continued Sovereign traditional owners
and custodians of knowledge for their lands, stories and communities.
