Sovereign Forever – Forever Sovereign

Professional Doctorate

The Professional Doctorate is completed within 3-4 years full-time study. It is primarily undertaken as a supervised course of original research, with the depth of the research required for a Doctorate degree.

The DProf degree is a course that is aimed at the research development of Indigenous people (the student), with particular emphasis on applying research methodology appropriate to the field of study to enhance and develop Indigenous Knowledge that will advantage Indigenous peoples, communities and the Indigenous education academy.

It is intended to provide Indigenous students with the opportunity to develop their own research at an advanced stage, enhance their skills of researching and recording Indigenous knowledge, and their ability to develop and present solutions from an Indigenous epistemological base in the conduct of their research.

The Professional Doctorate degree is also intended for the Indigenous student to collaborate with, and within their own Indigenous groups; and with their Elders and holders of traditional knowledge to record this knowledge for future generations.

WINU acknowledges the Indigenous peoples of the world upon whose ancestral lands WINU meets.
WINU would also like to pay respect to the Traditional Knowledge Holders and Elders,
both past and present, acknowledging them as the continued Sovereign traditional owners
and custodians of knowledge for their lands, stories and communities.
